During your training you’ll have the support, advice and oversight of a team of HSBC professionals:
Your first step is to choose whether you want to develop the expertise of a commercial banker through the Fast Forward Program or an overall understanding of HSBC bank through the Graduate Development Program.
You will train with experienced Commercial Banking staff to become an Account Manager in our Commercial Banking division. It will allow you to develop front-line experience of dealing with customers, as well credit and financial statement analysis skills. In so doing it will give you a thorough grounding in the fundamental aspects of managing business customer relationships. You'll be learning how to build and manage your own portfolio of customers and developing your knowledge of businesses in your local area so at the end of the program, you'll be ready to become a relationship manager and take responsibility for your own portfolio of business customers.
In your training, you will gain exposure to the following areas:
You will gain valuable experience in both our in-branch and corporate environments through a combination of classroom, interactive seminars, formal work assignments, and project work. While rotating through the different areas, you will be exposed to retail and commercial banking, sales and customer experience, and a network of contacts from all levels of management.
In addition, you will gain exposure in supporting functions such as products, operations, marketing and risk management. Along the way, you will be expected to develop the core banking, management and leadership skills necessary to move into a permanent role in the organization. You will be continually challenged, but have the support of colleagues, "buddies" and mentors, HSBC leadership, and a program manager. Upon successful completion of the program, you will compete for roles in the organization based on your success during the program, career path, and business needs.
Both programs require a sales and leadership oriented mindset and eligibility to work in Canada. In addition, you possess a post-secondary degree with a GPA of 3.2 or above, superb communication skills, and strong leadership qualities. You also have a history of community involvement demonstrated through volunteer or extracurricular activities. Ideally, you possess some internships experience and/or a background in a retail or financial services environment.
Applications for the 2012 program will be accepted from August 29, 2011 to September 23, 2011, for start dates in 2012.
Fluency in English is a must, and fluency in at least one other language is always a plus for qualified candidates.
