HSBC Bank Canada and its subsidiaries (“HSBC”) in Canada are guided by enterprise wide policies and procedures related to anti-money laundering and anti-terrorist financing, Customer Due Diligence and Economic Sanctions. Financial Institutions are encouraged to rely on this website information rather than requesting individual certification.
According to the USA PATRIOT Act and final rules issued by the U.S. Department of Treasury, a U.S. Bank or a U.S. Broker-Dealer in securities (a "Covered Financial Institution”) is required to obtain certain information from "Foreign Banks" for which it maintains correspondent accounts in the United States.
As permitted by the final rules, HSBC Bank Canada has executed a Global Certification applicable to all correspondent accounts maintained for it by Covered Financial Institutions. Please use this Global Certification instead of asking HSBC Bank Canada to complete a separate certification form.
If the business that maintains a correspondent account with your institution is not listed, or you have any questions regarding the Global Certification, please contact us.
