Various security measures, tools and processes are in place to safeguard your information when you use Business Internet Banking. Read the Security information pages for the security measures we have taken and the steps you can take to protect your computer and personal information both on and offline.
A security device is a small battery-powered electronic device that automatically generates single-use Security Codes, required to logon to Business Internet Banking. This code, combined with your Username and Verification Answer, greatly improves the safety of online transactions.
You will receive this device when you sign up for Business Internet Banking. It is small and portable enough to be carried on a key chain, in a pocket or purse. The device has a unique identifying 10-digit serial number and is linked to your username. It is the only device that allows you to access your accounts. You cannot use anyone else’s device nor should you lend your device to anyone.
If you require assistance, please contact Business Internet Banking Support at 1-866-808-HSBC (4722).
When do I use my Security Device?
You need the Security Device each time you logon. It is part of our identification process and security to verify users.
How do I use my Security Device?
Press the On/Off triangular button. Your Security Code will show in the display window. The device will automatically turn off after 30 seconds, or when you hit the On/Off button again. Once you have the code, simply type it into the Logon screen.
How do you know I am entering the correct Security Code?
When you set up your service, your Security Device is linked to your username and only you can use it. When you enter a Security Code, we check to ensure your Security Device generated the code entered. If you enter an incorrect code, you will be prompted to enter a new one.
What if I break or lose my Security Device?
System Administrators should call our Business Internet Banking Support line at 1-866-808-HSBC (4722) (Monday to Friday, 5:30AM-5:00PM PT / 8:30AM-8:00PM ET) to request a replacement for themselves or secondary users. You will not be able to access Business Internet Banking until a replacement Security Device is received, usually within 3-5 business days.
Can I use more than one Security Device at a time?
An organization may be issued more than one Security Device at a time, but no individual may be assigned more than one Security Device at a time as each individual user must be linked to only one device.
I'm a signer on more than one company account; do I need multiple Security Devices?
No. You can use the same Security Device to view any accounts for which you have access rights through Business Internet Banking.
How long will the battery last?
The battery will last for 3-5 years.
What does the message “BATT#” mean?
The message appears when the battery is running low. The first message will read “BATT5” and will work down to “BATT1,” with each number representing approximately one month of battery life. You cannot replace the battery in this device and will need to request a new device if the battery expires.
