We’re making your HSBC debit card and HSBC MasterCard® safer with the introduction of Chip and PIN cards. Over the next few years, the majority of cardholders in Canada will transition to this technology.
Chip and PIN is a global standard currently in wide use around the world. Chip cards contain an embedded microchip that is encrypted and extremely difficult to replicate. This feature provides enhanced protection against card fraud. Working together, Chip and PIN provides a simple method of identifying the card and the person using it as the rightful owner.
You will receive the PIN for your chip HSBC MasterCard a few days prior to receiving your new card. You will be able to change your PIN if you wish at any HSBC Bank Canada ATM.
