How to Use Your Chip HSBC Debit card

You can continue to use your chip HSBC debit card in much the same way you do today. The only difference you will experience is the chip card being inserted into a retailer’s chip terminal rather than being swiped.

At a chip terminal, simply:

1. Insert your card into a chip terminal.
2. Leave your card inserted for the entire transaction.
3. Follow the instructions on screen to enter your PIN.
4. After successfully completing the transaction you will remove your card and take your receipt.

Cards will continue to be swiped at retailers without chip terminals.
