Travel and Medical Insurance1
Automatically receive emergency travel medical coverage up to CAD $1,000,000 for you (as the Primary Cardholder), your spouse and dependent children travelling with you. Unlimited trips per year and up to 17 days per trip.
Emergency Travel Medical coverage includes:
- Hospital room and board charges
- Ambulance expenses
- Treatment by a physician
- X-rays and other diagnostic tests
- Operating room, anaesthesia and surgical dressings
- Emergency room charges
- Drugs and medication
- Rental of minor medical appliances
- Emergency dental expenses
Other coverage includes:
- Trip Cancellation Insurance (prior to departure). Should you have to cancel your trip before your scheduled departure date, you will be reimbursed for the prepaid portion of your trip that is non-refundable or non-transferable, up to $2,000 per person, to a maximum of $5,000 per trip.
- Trip Delay Insurance (post-departure). Should you have to delay your scheduled return date due to a covered event, you will be reimbursed for the extra cost of a one-way economy airfare to your departure point up to a maximum of $2,000 per Account.
- Baggage Delay or Loss Insurance. Covers the actual cash value of baggage and personal effects, up to a total per trip loss of $750 per Insured Person.
Emergency Travel Medical coverage only applies if you are under the age of 65 and is subject to an exclusion for pre-existing medical conditions.
Car Rental Insurance1
When you pay for your rental car with your HSBC Premier MasterCard, you are automatically eligible for:
- Car Rental Collision Damage Waiver (CDW) Insurance. Provides you with protection against the actual cash value of the damaged or stolen rental vehicle. Any reasonable towing or administration charges are also covered (documented proof required). Benefits are limited to one vehicle rental during any one period up to 31 consecutive days.
- Personal Effects Insurance. Benefits are provided for loss, theft or damage to personal effects during a trip with a covered rental car. Maximum coverage is $1,000 for each Insured Person, per occurrence. Total benefits are limited to $2,000 per Account.
- Car Rental Accidental Death and Dismemberment Insurance. Benefits will be provided if an Insured Person sustains a covered accidental bodily injury while occupying a rental car. Maximum benefit from any one accident is $300,000 per Account.
Trip Insurance1
When you make your travel arrangements with your HSBC Premier MasterCard, you automatically receive:
- Common Carrier Accidental Death and Dismemberment Insurance. Benefits will be provided if an Insured Person sustains a covered accidental bodily injury while occupying a common carrier as a paying passenger. Maximum benefit from any one accident is $500,000 per Insured Person.
- Unexpected Return Home Insurance. If a Covered Cause for Unexpected Return Home occurs while you're away, you will be reimbursed the cost of an emergency return ticket home, to a maximum of $2,000 per Insured Person.
Purchase Assurance and Extended Warranty Insurance1
Your HSBC Premier MasterCard gives you peace of mind knowing that most new items you purchase on your card are automatically protected.
- Covers theft, damage or loss for up to 90 days from the date of purchase. Doubles the original manufacturer’s warranty up to one additional year, with no registration required.
