Annual Interest Rates

Please note that the HSBC Gold MasterCard® is no longer being offered to new customers.

Interest begins to accrue on Purchases, Cash Advances and fees from the date of the transaction until payment is received in full. Interest accrues on Convenience Cheques and balance transfers from the date they are posted to your account.

Regular Rate

Grace Period for Purchases

Interest charges are waived on new Purchases and fees that appear on your account statement for the first time if your New Balance is paid in full by the payment due date shown on that statement. Purchases made by writing convenience cheques are treated as Cash Advance and the interest charges will not be waived. Each statement will normally cover between 28 and 33 days

* Interest rates will increase by 5% per annum if two consecutive Minimum Payments are not made or if three Minimum Payments are not made within the previous 12-month period. The higher rates will apply until the Minimum Payment is made on time for six consecutive months.

Annual Fees

The annual fee(s) will appear on the first Account statement, whether Your Card is activated or not, and will be charged annually thereafter.

Other Fees

Transaction Fee:

 $2.75 is charged for purchases of wire transfers, money orders, travelers cheques, foreign currency, bets, lottery tickets and casino gaming chips (referred to as quasi-cash transactions).

Overlimit Fee:

$29.00 is charged if your balance exceeds your credit limit on your monthly statement date.

Charge for Dishonoured Payment/Convenience Cheque:

 $25.00 is charged for each cheque or other payment item that is dishonoured, and for each Convenience Cheque returned due to insufficient credit or because your Account is not in good standing.

Foreign Currency Transactions:

You are charged the MasterCard conversion rate for transactions in a foreign currency, plus an administration fee of 2.5% of the converted amount, on both debits and credits.

Convenience Cheque Fee:

$5.00 is charged for cheques written to a merchant outside Canada.

Inactive Credit Balance Account Fee:

The lesser of $10 or the credit balance is charged every time an Account carrying a credit balance is inactive for 12 months.

Optional Insurance

Travel and Medical Insurance 1 Annual premium of $69, including applicable taxes.

CreditCare Insurance 2 $0.99 per month per $100 of the average daily balance on your HSBC MasterCard account (plus applicable taxes).
