What do I need to be eligible for the HSBC Advance package1 with no monthly fee?

  • To qualify for the HSBC Advance package1 with no monthly fee, you must maintain a balance of $25,000 or more in deposits and/or investments with HSBC in Canada. This balance can be held in a variety of accounts. This balance can be held either individually or jointly.
  • You have three months after your HSBC Advance Chequing account is approved to transfer the $25,000 balance to eligible accounts with HSBC in Canada. If you fall below the $25,000 threshold you will be subject to a monthly fee of $25. This fee will be charged to your Advance Chequing account.

The HSBC Advance Chequing account, HSBC Advance MasterCard and personal line of credit are each subject to credit adjudication and approval. As part of the application process, you must consent to a credit bureau check to verify your credit qualifications.

Important Information to Apply Online

To apply for the HSBC Advance package1 online you must meet the following qualifications:

  • Be a Canadian resident
  • Be at least the age of majority in your province of residence

In addition, to meet Canadian anti-money laundering regulations outlined in the Proceeds of Crime (Money Laundering) Terrorist Financing Act and Regulations effective June 23, 2008, we must follow legislated methods to ascertain identity when we open online accounts without face-to-face interactions. Therefore, to apply for the HSBC Advance package1 online, you must agree to the following for identification purposes:

  • Send a cheque drawn on your existing Chequing account with another Canadian Financial Institution. The cheque must include your name and current address. This cheque must clear your account to provide proof of identity.
  • Consent to a credit bureau check from which we may ask specific personal questions to confirm your identity.

Monthly Fee: $25 per month, no minimum balance requirements
