HSBC’s Single Trip insurance plan covers expenses for medical emergencies that your provincial health insurance plan doesn’t cover when you’re traveling out-of-province or out of Canada.

In the event of a medical emergency, we coordinate direct payments to medical providers wherever possible, so you can focus on recovering.

The Single Trip insurance plan also covers expenses arising from trip interruption and lost, damaged, or delayed baggage.

Choose this type of insurance if you

  • Are traveling out-of-province or out of Canada.
  • Are going on one or two trips in one year. (If you’re planning on three or more trips in a year, it’s more economical to purchase an Annual Multi Trip plan.)
  • Want coverage for an individual or for a family (up to two adults and five dependents).

  • But I have extended medical as part of my benefits from work. Isn't that enough?

    This HSBC policy has a comprehensive travel insurance product that will take the worry out of traveling. Consider this before traveling:

    - Your employee package may only cover the employee and not their family,

    - Most employee packages only cover medical. The HSBC Multi Trip Plan includes trip interruption and baggage;

    - Your employee benefits may request that you pay up front and then you are reimbursed when you get home.

  • If I want to stay longer how do I extend my ten day coverage and when do I have to purchase the additional coverage?

    If you want to stay longer than ten days on any of your trips you can call us just before you leave to purchase the additional days to ensure that you have complete coverage. Or, if you decide to stay longer while you are away you can call us from your destination prior to the 10th day of your trip and you can purchase the extra number of days so that you can continue to enjoy your trip.
