What should I do in case of an emergency during my trip?
It is a condition of the policy that you must notify us before seeking medical attention. Our emergency assistance department will direct you to a facility that can provide you with the medical attention you require. If you don’t contact us before seeking medical attention, your benefits will be limited to:
- in the event of hospitalization, 80% of eligible expenses based on reasonable and customary Costs to a maximum of $30,000 CAD. This means you will be responsible for payment of 20% of the first $30,000 CAD and 100% of payments in excess of $30,000 CAD.; and
- in the event of an out-patient medical consultation, a maximum of one (1) visit per sickness or injury.
If it is not reasonably possible for you to contact us prior to seeking medical treatment due to the nature of your medical emergency, you must have someone else call on your behalf or you must call as soon as medically possible.
