There is no minimum financial requirement to open an account.

7. What computer software and hardware do I need?

To trade online you need access to the Internet and a supported browser. For PC : Microsoft Internet Explorer 5.5 or later, Netscape 6.1, Mozilla 1.2, Mozilla Firefox 1.0 For Mac : Microsoft Internet Explorer 5.2 or later, Mozilla 1.2, or Mozilla Firefox 1.0 These browsers are available free of charge from Microsoft, Mozilla and Netscape.

8. What computer software and browser do I need to access the new HomePage and Quote Page?

Note: To access the new HomePage and Quote Page you must have a compatible Operating system and browser.

Supported browsers include: Internet Explorer 6.0 or later, Mozilla Firefox version 1.5 or later, Opera version 9.0 or later, Apple Safari version 2.0 or later. These browsers are available free of charge from Microsoft and Mozilla.

Supported operation systems: Windows NT, Windows 2000, Windows XP, Windows Vista, Apple OSX.

If you do not have a compatible browser or operating system you will automatically be redirected to the legacy Homepage and Quote Page.

10. If I am a U.S. resident can I open a HSBC InvestDirect account to trade on Canadian exchanges?

Because of U.S. securities regulations we cannot open accounts for U.S. residents. For information on opening an account with the HSBC Group in the U.S., please contact us.
