1. How do I transfer securities from another institution?

To transfer an existing portfolio to HSBC InvestDirect, complete one of these transfer forms:

• Non-registered investments
• Registered investments

2. How do I deposit money into my trading account?

There are a number of ways to deposit funds:

• Canadian and U.S. funds can be deposited at any HSBC branch
• Canadian and U.S. dollar cheque deposits can be made at any HSBC branch
• Canadian dollar and U.S. dollar cheques can be sent by mail
• Trade can be settled from a designated bank account.

3. How do I transfer funds from my investment account to my bank account?

You can transfer or contribute funds online between any of your HSBC InvestDirect accounts or between an HSBC InvestDirect account and a pre-authorized bank account (HSBC Bank Canada or another institution) – designated by you.*
Here's how you do it:

1. From the home page click on Accounts in the left hand navigational bar.
2. Click on Transfers and Contributions
3. Choose the Transfers or Contributions tab at the top depending on the type of transaction that you would like to complete.
4. Once your have entered your transaction, you can view the status of your request by clicking on the Status tab.

4. What interest is paid on cash balances in my account?

We offer competitive interest rates based on Canadian and U.S. prime rates. No credit interest is paid on interest balances less than $5. View our rates for credit and debit balances.

5. What other currencies are available?

Accounts can be operated in multiple currencies, but are normally operated in Canadian or U.S. dollars. Other available currencies include

• British Pound sterling
• euro
• Hong Kong dollar
• Japanese yen
• Swiss franc
