INTERAC e-Transfer is a simple way to send money to – and receive money from – family and friends who bank at other financial institutions in Canada.
It costs $1.25 to send an INTERAC e-Transfer®. It is free to receive or deposit an INTERAC e-Transfer with your HSBC account.
For accounts with a limited number of free transactions, activity-based fees may also apply if you send an INTERAC e-Transfer over and above the number of transactions allowed.

What is an INTERAC e-Transfer?
INTERAC e-Transfer is a simple, fast, secure and convenient way to send money directly from one person to another, or from one Canadian bank account to another, anywhere in Canada. You can send money to anyone (into their Canadian bank accounts) via their email address or mobile phone number in Canada, without sharing any financial information.
Note: This service is only available in Canadian dollars and is only available within Canada.
Is there any service charge for using INTERAC e-Transfer?
Yes. $1.25 is charged to the account you are transferring funds from, whether the INTERAC e-Transfer is received, cancelled, declined, expired or the recipient fails to answer the security question correctly. For accounts with a limited number of free transactions, activity-based fees may also apply if you send an INTERAC e-Transfer over and above the number of transactions allowed. This fee is also non-refundable.

Can I send funds by INTERAC e-Transfer to someone outside of Canada?
No. Funds sent by INTERAC e-Transfer must be in Canadian dollars and must be deposited into an account at a Canadian Financial Institution. If a customer is overseas and chooses to deposit into their Canadian dollar account in Canada, this will be allowed.
Are there limits on the amount I can send and receive?
Yes. Please refer to the below table.
Daily $5,000 CAD (per 24 hour period)
Weekly $10,000 CAD (per 7 day period)
Monthly $40,000 CAD (per 30 day period)
Daily $10,000 CAD (per 24 hour period)
Weekly $70,000 CAD (per 7 day period)
Monthly $300,000 CAD (per 30 day period)
