5Prime rate is 2.70% as of November 1, 2016 and means the annual rate of interest HSBC Bank Canada announces from time to time as a reference rate for determining interest rates on Canadian dollar retail loans in Canada. The actual rate will vary depending on fluctuations to HSBC’s Prime Rate. Rates are subject to change without notice. Interest is calculated based on the daily closing balance. For information and to confirm most recent rates, please contact any HSBC Bank Canada branch. (APR) APR means the cost of borrowing for a loan expressed as an annual rate. It includes all interest and some non-interest charges associated with the loan. Since there is no cost of borrowing other than interest, the annual interest rate and APR is the same and APR will fluctuate with the Prime Rate from time to time. For a $10,000 HSBC RRSP loan at Prime Rate minus 0.25% (currently 2.45%) for a 4 year term with a 4 year amortization, your approximate monthly payment of principal and interest will be $218.50. Assuming that all payments are made on time and in full and that no prepayments are made, the total interest costs for the term are approximately $487. This example is for informational and general illustrative purposes only. Rates quoted are not considered rate guarantees. Calculations assume that the interest rate will remain constant over the entire amortization/repayment period, but actual interest rates may vary over the amortization period.
