No foreign transaction fees**

Unlike most credit cards, the HSBC Premier World Elite Mastercard will not charge you a foreign currency conversion charge when you make a purchase in a different currency. Only the foreign exchange rate will apply. This makes shopping abroad or online a more rewarding experience.

** The term “foreign transaction fees” is a substitute for Foreign Currency Conversion charges.

$100 travel enhancement credit

Simply charge your airline seat upgrades, baggage fees or airport lounge passes to your HSBC Premier World Elite Mastercard, and then redeem your travel enhancement credit to cover these charges, making your travel more enjoyable.

The annual $100 travel enhancement credit will automatically renew on your credit card anniversary date.

31-day travel insurance5 coverage

Worldwide Emergency Travel Medical insurance5 can provide coverage if you are injured or experience a medical emergency while traveling abroad.

This coverage is available for the primary cardholder and spouse, both under age 65. Please note that travel in Cuba is not covered.

Extensive insurance5 coverage

  • Worldwide Emergency Travel Medical insurance5
    As an HSBC Premier World Elite Mastercard cardholder, you can travel with peace of mind. Receive emergency travel medical coverage for you (as the primary cardholder), your spouse and dependent children traveling with you, up to a maximum of $1,000,000 per insured person. You are covered for up to 31 days per trip each time you travel. This coverage is available for the primary cardholder and spouse, both under age 65. Please note that travel in Cuba is not covered.
  • Baggage Delay or Loss insurance5
    Did your baggage get damaged during your trip? You are covered to a maximum of $750 per insured person (maximum of $500 per item). It covers loss or damage, theft, burglary and fire or transportation hazards during the trip. You are also covered for up to $200 per trip for the purchase of necessities if your checked baggage is delayed by the carrier for 12 hours or more en route to your destination.
  • Trip Cancellation and Trip Interruption/Delay insurance5
    Charge at least 75% of eligible trip expenses to your HSBC Premier World Elite® Mastercard® and you are covered should you need to cancel your trip before the scheduled departure date due to a covered event (such as death, injury or illness of yourself, or your immediate family); or change or delay your return once you have left on a trip.
    Under the Trip Cancellation coverage, you will be reimbursed for the prepaid portion of your trip that is non-refundable or non-transferable up to $2,000 per insured person, to a maximum of $5,000 per trip. Under Trip Interruption/Delay, you will be reimbursed up to a maximum of $2,000 per insured person to a maximum $5,000 per trip, for the additional charges incurred for the change of ticketing or the cost of a one-way economy fare by a common carrier to return home early or to delay your scheduled return.
  • Car Rental insurance5
    Save when you rent a car with your HSBC Premier World Elite Mastercard.
    You are automatically covered under Car Rental Collision/Loss Damage when you charge at least 75% of the cost of a rental vehicle to your HSBC Premier World Elite Mastercard and decline the rental agency’s collision or loss damage waiver. Car Rental Collision/Loss Damage insurance compensates you, or the rental agency, up to the full value of the damaged or stolen rental vehicle and any reasonable towing or loss of use charges. Benefits are limited to one vehicle rental during any one period, for up to 31 consecutive days.
    Car Rental insurance also includes Personal Effects and Car Rental Accidental Death and Dismemberment insurance coverage.
  • Purchase Assurance and Extended Warranty Insurance5
    When you use your HSBC Premier World Elite Mastercard to purchase eligible items, Purchase Protection provides coverage in the event of loss, damage or theft for 90 days from the purchase date.
    Extended Warranty coverage automatically doubles the original manufacturer’s warranty for up to one additional year when you use your HSBC Premier World Elite Mastercard to purchase most items.

Important Information about the HSBC Premier World Elite Mastercard

To apply for an HSBC Premier World Elite Mastercard, you must:

  • Be an HSBC Premier* client
  • Have a minimum annual gross personal income of $80,000 or a minimum annual gross household income of $150,000
  • Be a permanent Canadian resident and have reached the age of majority in your province/territory

The HSBC Premier World Elite Mastercard is subject to credit approval.


* In order to qualify for HSBC Premier you must have an active HSBC Premier chequing account, and meet at least one of the following eligibility criteria:

• Total Relationship Balance of $100,000 (CAD) or more, or

• Total Mortgage Amount of $500,000 (CAD) or more, or

• Total Monthly Income Deposit of $6,500 (CAD) or more plus confirmation of $100,000 or more in deposits and/or investments in Canada

Some exclusions apply. A monthly fee will be charged if you do not meet at least one of the eligibility criteria above. For full details regarding eligibility and any fees which may apply please refer to the Personal Service Charges/Statement of Disclosure available at any HSBC Bank Canada branch or online at www.hsbc.ca.

1 Earn 6 Points on every $1 of eligible travel purchases, up to a maximum of $50,000 in eligible travel purchases charged to your HSBC Premier World Elite Mastercard in a calendar year. After reaching $50,000 in eligible travel purchases, you will earn 3 Points on every $1 of eligible travel purchases. Refer to the HSBC Premier World Elite Rewards Program Terms and Conditions for complete details. Points earned on eligible travel purchases can be redeemed for rewards valued at up to 3% of the amount spent to earn them, and Points earned on all other eligible purchases can be redeemed for rewards valued at up to 1.5% of the amount spent to earn them. For example, $5,000 in eligible travel purchases earns you 30,000 Points, which can be redeemed for travel rewards valued at $150. Other rewards that require 30,000 Points for redemption may be valued at less than $150. Redemption offers may change from time to time.

2 Eligible travel purchases mean purchases made from merchants that are classified in the Mastercard network as airlines, car rental agencies, hotels, cruise lines, passenger railways, tour operators, timeshares and travel agencies. Some merchants may sell travel services but are classified in another manner, therefore, purchases from such merchants are not considered to be eligible travel purchases.

3 Eligible purchases means purchases of goods and services that are charged to your Account, except for quasi-cash transactions (which include purchases of wire transfers, travelers cheques, foreign currency, money orders, payments of existing debts, bets, lottery tickets, and gaming chips), less any credits for returns, rebates or adjustments. Cash advances (including balance transfers and cheques), optional services, interest charges or fees, do, not qualify as eligible purchases.
