HSBC Security Device Options

HSBC offers two options for the Security Device. We have introduced the Digital Security Device, accessible to you from your smartphone. But if you can’t use your phone for a Digital Security Device, we’ll send you a Physical Security Device which generates the codes you need. Whichever option you select, be assured that your HSBC online banking sessions are even more secure.

 

Digital Security Device

  • Convenient - accessed through the HSBC Mobile Banking app so there's no need to carry or store a physical Security Device
  • Secure - our two factor authentication offers a higher level of security which will help protect you from online fraud
  • Full access - enables access to all mobile and online banking functionality
  • Easy to use - enter your Digital Secure Key password on the HSBC Mobile Banking app and you're ready to bank, wherever you are
  • Biometric Authentication – log on using iOS Touch/Face ID and Android™ Fingerprint ID. Available on iPhone 5s or newer models and Android: Samsung Galaxy - J6, S6, S7, S8, S9, S9+, C9 Pro, Note 5, Note 8, LG - G6, G6+, V20, V30+,  Google - Pixel, Pixel 2, Pixel 2 XL, Sony - Xperia XZ2, Xperia XZ2 Premium, HTC - U12+
  • Available on iPhone and Android Digital devices running up to date software and versions of the HSBC Mobile Banking app

Physical Security Device

  • Convenient - about the same size as a credit card so it easily fits in a wallet or purse. Take it with you and log on to online banking anywhere you choose
  • Secure - our two factor authentication offers a higher level of security, which will help protect you from online fraud
  • Full access - enables access to all online banking functionality
  • Easy to use - just switch it on, enter your PIN and it'll give you a unique, one-off six digit passcode to use when you log on
