Log on with your Digital Security Device
- Go to HSBC.ca and log on to Online Banking with your username.
- If you are prompted to enter your password, select the Use security code link below the Continue button.
- Launch the HSBC Canada Mobile Banking app and select Generate security code.
- Select Log on security code.
- Password option - Enter your Digital Security Device password and select Generate code.
OR
Biometric authentication option - Select Use Face/Touch ID or Fingerprint ID. - You will now see a security code
- Go back to Online Banking on HSBC.ca, enter the security code and select Continue. You will now be logged on at the higher level of security.
Log on with your Physical Security Device
- Go to HSBC.ca and log on to Online Banking with your username.
- If you are prompted to enter your password, select the Use security code link below the Continue button.
- Press and hold the green button until you see the word PIN in the top right corner. Enter your Security Device PIN and press the green button again.
- With the 'HSBC' welcome screen displayed, press the green button again. This will generate a 6-digit security code.
- Go back to the HSBC.ca banking website, enter the Security Code and select Continue. You will now be logged on to Online Banking on HSBC.ca at the higher level of security.
Log on with your password
- Go to HSBC.ca and log on to Online Banking with your username.
- If you are prompted to use a security code, select the Log on using password link below the Continue button.
- Enter your password and select Continue. You will now be logged on to Online Banking on HSBC.ca and can perform transactions that warrant a lower level of security. You can view your balances, access your statements and make payments to existing beneficiaries.
Switch to a Digital Security Device on your mobile phone
- Launch the HSBC Canada Mobile Banking app and log on using your username and password.
- Select Profile.
- Select Security.
- Select Activate Digital Security Device.
- Generate a code from your Physical Security Device and enter the security code and select Continue.
- Choose a method to receive a second activation code - either SMS or email. Select Send code. You can also phone Customer Service at 1-877-621-8811.
- Enter the activation code you receive and select Validate code.
- Create and confirm your new Digital Security Device password. Finally, select Complete activation.
Remember! You will need your Digital Security Device password every time you use the HSBC Canada Mobile Banking app or to generate security codes when banking on HSBC.ca. Your Digital Security Device password cannot be the same as your username or your Online Banking password. Setup biometric authentication to simplify this log on.
Forgot your Digital Security Device password?
- Reset your password by launching the HSBC Canada Mobile Banking app and selecting Forgot your Digital Security Device password?
- Answer your security question and select Continue. If you can’t remember it, call Customer Service at 1-877-621-8811.
- Select how you would like to receive your password reset number and select Send number.
- Enter your password reset number and select Continue.
- Create and confirm your new Digital Security Device password, and select Reset password.
Note: Your new password cannot be the same as your username, your old Digital Security Device password, or your Online Banking password. - Your Digital Security Device password has been reset.
Forgot your Physical Security Device PIN?
- Go to the HSBC.ca website, select the Log on button, enter your username and select Continue.
- Select the question mark icon and then Forgotten Security Device PIN?
- If you are prompted to log on with password, select the Use security code link below the Continue button.
- Answer your security questions and select Continue.
- You will need to lock your security device by entering an incorrect Security Device PIN three times. For example, if you used a 6 digit PIN you would enter '000000', then press the green button, then repeat another two times. When you next turn on your Security Device by pressing and holding the green button, it will display a 7 digit lock PIN code. Enter it into the Enter lock PIN code field.
- Now follow the onscreen instructions for creating a new PIN.
